Catalogue Note
There is a notation inside the jar written in orange pencil or crayon “No. 62. (10 [?]) Koptos.”, and “62” is barely visible on the outside.
Koptos - modern Qift, north of Luxor on the Nile’s east bank - is the site which Petrie and Quibell excavated in 1893-4 before moving on to Nagada and Ballas.
