of ovoid form with finely-contoured offset foot, tubular handles, and everted rim.

Condition
very good except for a repair on the rim with slight restoration at the ends of the break-line; there is a small nick or flaw on the end of one handle, and a few tiny nicks or flaws on the edge of the foot.

Royall Tyler was an art historian and international financial expert based in Paris. In the 1920s and 30s he assembled a collection of Egyptian, Persian, and Byzantine art, acquired mainly from dealers in Paris such as Dikran Kelekian and Joseph Brummer. Other fine Egyptian hardstone vases from his collection, in addition to the four examples included in this catalogue, were sold here on December 8th, 2011, nos. 38-39, and June 7th, 2012, nos. 1-2.
