Catalogue Note

Night is one of Korbel's most successful and popular compositions.  He made several versions of it--a 1920 polychrome, an 8 1/4  inch long bronze sketch modeled in 1921 and at least two casts of a one-half life-size version, also from 1921.  There are two life-size marble versions as well, based on the bronze, one of which was purchased by fellow sculptor, Anna Hyatt Huntington for Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.
