Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
This work is unlined and still on its original stretcher. The tacking edges have been reinforced. The paint layer is clean, lightly varnished and stable. Two areas had developed instability, one in the dark green tree in front of the purple house in the center of the right side and the other in the brown bank of the river in the lower center and lower right. These two areas have received slight retouching. The remainder of the picture is in perfect condition.
