Catalogue Note

The composition depicts the northern view from the Apacapri region of the island of Capri. The island of Ischia and the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius are visible in the background, with the primary figure carrying flowers in the foreground. The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius is a common theme in Coleman's later works.
