Condition

Condition Report from Simon Parkes Conservation, Inc. (9/30/2015): This work is in more or less perfect condition. There is one small paint loss in the light colored paint in the upper center. The painting is probably slightly dirty. The canvas is a bit loose on its stretcher. Originally, Jones would have sketched out a work, perhaps with a stronger horizon and this horizon line running through the trees in the lower center is still visible, but this is a typical pentimente and certainly not anything to worry about. The tacking edges have slightly acidified and need to be reinforced so the canvas can be tightened properly.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report.
