Condition
The following condition report has been prepared by Simon Parkes:
This work has not been restored for some time. The canvas has an old glue lining. The cracking in the sky is slightly visible and raised, but the paint layer is stable nonetheless. The painting does not appear to be abraded or weakened in any way. The signature in the lower right is thin, and arguably slightly abraded. Inscriptions applied by an artist after the work has dried are susceptible to abrasion. To be fully confident of the attribution, examining the signature more closely and possibly testing it would be prudent.
