Description
- hide, beadwork
comprising two Iroquois cloth pouches, one pictorial, one Santee Sioux beaded pouch, and one beaded pouch, possibly Blackfoot.
Provenance
Charles and Sharon Aberle Collection
Condition
Be sure to check out the additional images online on these pouches. The small Iroquois pouch has a bird, with a worm in its beak, with branches and little track marks or possibly stars on the side not shown in the catalogue. The Santee Sioux pouch is an unusual style of pouch and has tiny faceted seed beads that twinkle, classic design motifs. The Blackfoot pouch with the checkerboard motif is classic and very well done, great color and composition. The other small Iroquois pouch is in excellent condition except the beaded strap is very fragile and one of the strands is broken and has lost beads. These bags date from 1865 1900.
