Catalogue Note

Nangunyarri is renowned for his carvings of female figures. While most Tiwi figure sculptures are solid and block-like, some of Nangunyarri’s female sculptures possess a certain delicacy and sensitivity as seen in the narrow legs and attenuated arms of this figure.
