Alain Anceau, Paris Purchased from the above by the present owner in 2006
The present work is a study for one of the covers of MA (Magyar Aktivizmus), a journal designed by Lajos Kassák. Founded in 1916, the magazine gave voice to the group of the same name of Hungarian activist artists and writers among whose member were Sándor Bortnyik, János Máttis Teutsch, László Moholy-Nagy and Béla Uitz.
The sheet has been hinged to the mat along its upper edge, on the reverse. There are very small spots of foxing throughout the composition, but colours are otherwise bright and strong. The work is in good condition and ready to hang.
