Catalogue Note

Hungarian-born artist, Endre Nemes first studied in Prague. As a Jew, he had to flee Czechoslovakia in 1938 to settle first in Helsinki and then in Sweden where he was granted citizenship. Nemes founded 'The Minotaur Group' in Malmö in 1943, a Swedish Surrealist group whose works were clearly inspired to their French colleagues.
