Condition

The canvas has been strip-lined and is slightly loose, notably in the lower half of the composition. There is a horizontal stretcher mark in the middle of the canvas with associated somewhat pronounced craquelure, and minor craquelure which appears to be stable is also visible throughout the composition. Ultra-violet light reveals minor scattered spots of retouching, notably in the skirt and in the white pigments of the main figure in the centre. The work is otherwise in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a narrow decorative gilt frame.
