Catalogue Note

Like with the celebrated painter John William Godward, Professore Petrilli depicts here one of his favorite themes: Neoclassical Greco-Roman subjects courting, set within a mix of carefully chosen marble specimens, bronze and a rare caméo roundel of Apollo chariot. The gentle tranquility of this composition is further reinforced by the harmonious interplay of the molded glass with rich marble colors demonstrating the artist’s unparalleled mastery of mix media tones.
