French School, 19th Century A terracotta figure of Cupid on pedestal

Cupid removing love's arrow from its quiver, billing doves by his side, raised on a parcel gilt and grey painted three sided pedestal

The pedestal showing line of construction owing to atmospheric damage and wood and parts movement. Chips, nicks and losses to gilding showing gesso, bole and barewood in places and with extensive dirt to crevices. The terracotta in fair condition with minor chips to tip of toe to left foot. Loss to top of flambeau. Repair to the neck of the top dove, now showing the crack. Loss to tail of bottom dove and chips to flowers at her left side. Cupid's left index finger shows restoration.
