  • 49 by 71cm., 19ΒΌ by 28in.

Provenance

E. J. van Wisselingh & Co., Amsterdam
Purchased from the above in the 1930s by the family of the present owner

Condition

The canvas has not been lined. There are some minor scattered faint lines of drying craquelure. Ultra-violet light reveals an even old varnish and some scattered minor thin lines of retouching, notably in the buildings towards the upper-right of the composition, the wall near the centre, and the dark pigments towards the left of the lower framing edge. This painting is in good condition and would benefit from a professional surface clean to address the old yellowed varnish layers. Presented in a substantial gilt frame with a nameplate.
