Exhibited

Munich, Glaspalast, Internationale Kunstausstellung im königlichen Glaspalast, 1909, no. 840

Condition

The canvas has not been lined. There are some minor scattered small spots of paint flaking, primarily in the ground to the right of the horse. Ultra-violet light reveals notably two restorations, one circa 70cm vertical restoration from the sky to the upper-right of the woman to the horse, and a circa 19 by 7cm area in the sky to the upper-left of the man, small scattered areas in the right of the sky, and possibly some areas of retouching to the right of the horse in the ground, although traces of the old residual varnish make the surface more difficult to read below the horizon. The work is otherwise ready to hang. Presented in a decorative frame.
