Condition

The artist's canvas has been given a strip-lining along the four tacking edges. The surface has a somewhat uneven appearance under ultra-violet light owing to the varnish and some of the artist's pigments apparently fluorescing green; there are some relatively minor signs of clearly identifiable retouching, notably a small area and a spot towards the centre of the upper edge, a spot at the end of the path to the right, and a spot in the grass of the path to the left. Otherwise this work is in good overall condition. The colours are somewhat fresher, and less red overall in reality than in the catalogue illustration. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
