  • Pair of Chinoiserie figures of a man and a woman
  • bronze, dark brown patina with light brown highlights
  • French, 19th century

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronzes is good, with some dirt and wear to the surfaces consistent with age. There is some rubbing to the patina, revealing the warm golden tone underneath. There is some dryness and minor greening to the tops of the bases. There is some dark spotting, including to the faces, necks, and the hands. There are a few nicks and scratches, including to the front edge of the man's base and to the brim of his hat. There is particular dirt to the crevices of the bases. The woman's parasol is cast separately and screws into the bottom section in her hand. The man's hat is very slightly loose. Pieces of felt are attached to some of the feet of the bases. Both bases rock slightly on an even surface.
