Overall the condition of the marble is good, with some minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The trumpet may have been re-secured with some tape. There are a few very small chips and abrasions around the base. There are a few naturally occurring inclusions in the marble.

Catalogue Note
Josef Wind was born in Munich in 1864 and is best known for his marble figures. The sculptor studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. ‘La charmeuse de serpents’ is one of his most beautiful compositions, it represents a romanticized approach to orientalist subjectmatter.
