Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is a layer of white dirt to the surface, in particular to the head of the suckling child. There are several areas of wear and losses to the patina, including the proper right side of the wolf's back, between the wolf's eyes, the wolf's ears and the non-suckling child's hair. There are lacunae in the bronze throughout consistent with the casting process, notably a hole below the wolf's proper left shoulder blade. There are also some slight fissures to the bronze consistent with the casting process. There are a few areas of greening, including to the wolf's proper right side, its proper left neck, and the suckling child's forehead. There are minor scratches and dirt marks to the base.
