Description

  • Angiolo Vannetti
  • Tigers Fighting
  • signed: A. Vannetti
  • partially polychromed Siena marble

Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. One of the claws on the biting tiger's proper left front paw is lost. A section above the biting tiger's proper right eye, a section of the roaring tiger's proper right ear and one of the nails of the biting tiger's proper right front paw are carved separately. There are several naturally occurring inclusions to the marble, and there are a few filled areas which may conceal larger inclusions or open veins, notably to the roaring lions proper left shoulder and back. There are a few minor splashes of white paint to the roaring tiger's tail and the terrasse. There are a few chips and abrasions to the bottom edges of the terrasse.
