Description

  • Evgeni Alexandrovich Lanceray
  • Arab Hunter with Lion Cubs
  • signed in cyrillic: sculpt. E. Lansere, inscribed: Modèle original and: F. Chopin in cyrillic, and dated: 1879
  • bronze, warm brown patina, on a veined green marble base

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is very good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is some rubbing to the patina at the high points, including to the man's face. The bronze is cast in sections; original stable joints are slightly visible, including at the horse's proper left front leg and its proper right hind leg. There is some particular dirt around these joints. The reins on the proper left side have been reattached; the joint is slightly open and remnants of glue are visible. The stirrup on the proper right side is a bit loose. The gun detaches. The marble base is in good condition with a few chips and abrasions to the edges.
