Condition

The canvas has been lined. There is a faint craquelure pattern visible in the sky and the surface is slightly dirty; otherwise the work appears in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals areas of retouching to the edges, throughout the sky, to some of the figures in the foreground and areas in the water, and in some further places. Held in a gilt plaster frame.
