Condition

The canvas has been relined and is sound. The paint surface is in good overall condition. However, there is a discoloured varnish visible in the sky upper left. Otherwise the paint surface appears sound. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered areas of infilling in the sky, trees, and roof upper left. There are some further spots to the central group of figures and to the buildings upper right. Held in a plaster gilt frame in fair condition.
