Catalogue Note
A rare description in French of Angelo Querini's country house, garden and outdoor sculpture, dedicated to William Petty, Marquess of Lansdowne, Prime Minister in 1782-83. The plates describe the sculptures, subsequently dispersed, of what was considered one of the most significant Italian gardens of the period.
Giustina Wynne was an Anglo-Italian adventuress, who had been Casanova's mistress before she married Count Orsini Rosenberg, Austrian ambassador to the Venetian Republic.
