Catalogue Note
An uncommon set of the three-volume French edition of Janssonius's Atlas Novus. The Nouveau theatre du monde was published simultaneously in 1639 by Henricus Hondius and Johannes Janssonius, heirs of Jodocus Hondius, the owner of the atlas stock of the great cartographer Gerard Mercator. Each edition had its own imprints and both vary in the use of the (older) Hondius or (newer) Janssonius versions of about 25 maps.
