Catalogue Note

These albums include photographs taken in 'Tiendoong', 'Toong Hu', 'Nyoeb Waung', 'Nin-kaung-jau', 'Soochow', Shanghai, 'Hangchow', and 'Sungkiang.'
Prideaux (born in Plymouth, 1879) was a sanitary inspector and travelled in China and Asia around 1916-1925. He was a skilled photographer and took many hundreds of photographs of people, landscapes and architecture on his travels, and also produced illustrated journals (see lot 234).
