Catalogue Note
A VERY GOOD ALBUM INCLUDING UNCOMMON VIEWS OF CHINA. Despite the title, all of the images are of China, and have accompanying detailed descriptions in English. The publisher was probably Japanese and based in Shanghai; similar albums exist with the same size photographs and tipped-in descriptions, but with the text in Japanese. The photographers working for the publisher of this work ranged far and wide across China as their productions (as evidenced here) are notable for the many unusual images of little-known and seldom-photographed places.
