Catalogue Note

This is the first illustrated Latin edition (the first edition, in Italian, had appeared a decade earlier) of Mattioli's influential commentary on Dioscorides' Materia medica. Many of the plants and animals illustrated were drawn from life by Giorgio Liberale of Udine.
