Catalogue Note
Adolf Jacobus van Citters was Dutch Minister plenipotentiary at Peking from 1903 to 1908. He took many photographs during his residency and 245 of van Citter's original glass negatives of China are preserved in the National Museum of Ethnology (Kerncollectie Fotografie, Museum Volkenkunde) in Leiden. These photographs were acquired with another album of photographs of China taken at the same period (see lot 192).
