2 volumes, folio (470 x 312mm.), engraved titles, double-page engraved portrait of Mercator and Hondius, 239 double-page engraved maps, contemporary hand colour, contemporary Dutch vellum,  lacking 3 engraved divisional titles, vol.2 browned and stained, binding becoming detached, worn



In 1630 the Mercator-Hondius atlas was greatly expanded. This 1633 French edition has 107 new maps, and 115 new maps compared with the last French edition of 1628. The total number of maps (239) was too much for one volume. Needing two title pages, Hondius had engraved a new, modern title page for the first volume and used the old Mercator title page for the second volume.
