Condition

Overall in very good condition. With a few small and minute air bubble inclusions inherent in the making and not at all visually detracting. The ruffled fan with some subtle linear tool marks, also inherent in the making and quite commonly seen in Jack in the Pulpit vases. The base with a few light surface scratches to the top surface and side contour. There is a small thin piece of wood (approximately 1 x 1 x 1/8 inch) lodged inside the stem located about 7 inches from the ground. (As this small piece of wood is in a location within the stem that is not reachable by hand we have not attempted to remove it as it is seemingly doing no harm. It is not visible from the exterior and only visible when examining the vase interior with a strong light.) A rare example in blue favrile glass of Tiffany's iconic Jack in the Pulpit series, displaying superb proportion, form and coloration. The exterior surfaces of the vase are intensely iridized, imparting the vase with strong luminous color and a range of brilliant hues. The dramatic ruffled fan displays striking jewel tones of magenta, red, aqua, turquoise, emerald green and gold. When viewed in person the stem and base are slightly more subtle and cooler in hue than seen in the catalogue illustration, which is slightly too red and over saturated.
