Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with only 3 small and minor visible cracks dispersed throughout, one which extends only ΒΌ inch from the perimeter of the tile. All of these hairlines appear stable. The shade is composed of striking dichroic favrile glass. When seen with outside reflected light the shade appears in varying tones of green. When viewed with remitting light the ring mottling appears a vibrant chartreuse green outlined in deeper hues of green with a striking fiery orange background. The vigorous mottling seen in the shade is visually harmonious to the glass formations seen in this base design. The rare "Pineapple" base is in remarkable condition. By all accounts the green favrile glass which is blown through the bronze base reticulations is original and undisturbed, showing no visible signs of any cracks or condition issues. The favrile glass in the base with some very light surface wear and traces of light surface soiling. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base display an exceptionally rich mottled russet brown and green patina. The bronze surfaces with some occasional surface scratches, gentle rubbing, and light surface soiling to the recessed contours consistent with age and gentle handling. All of the small candle sockets appear original and undisturbed. The decorative switch found on the top of the lamp is an integral part of the base design; this bronze switch appears original and undisturbed and functions properly, showing gentle rubbing to the patina as expected from continued surface contact over the years. A stunning unit displaying a harmonious shade and base pairing and a particularly unusual dichroic glass selection. When viewing this lamp firsthand, the colors are slightly more nuanced and subtle than seen in the catalogue photography which is slightly over saturated.
