Condition

Overall in very good condition. This set of Lily Sconces and its historic counterparts offered in lots 225 and 227 are being consigned by descendants of the Havemeyer Family from the period, and by all accounts the Lily shades and bronze sconce mounts have originated together since the time of manufacture. The lily shades are a well-matched set displaying complementary form, color and decoration. The shades are all beautifully decorated with green pulled feather decoration, and iridized on the exterior, displaying strong luminous color. Two Lily shades with small and minor edge flecks to the top aperture rims. (Neither of these minor issues are visible when the shades are installed.) The patinated bronze sconce mounts displays a rich green and russet brown patina, with some occasional light surface scratches and wear, gentle rubbing, and some minor areas of surface discoloration consistent with age and gentle handling. One sconce mount with small and minor traces of white paint to the perimeter edge of the back plate and to the mount switch. Two sconces are missing two tiny screws which secure the back plates; despite these missing screws the sconces can be installed securely to a wall. If desired these screws can be easily replaced. The sconces present beautifully, displaying a highly sculptural form and an attractive set of decorated shades.
