Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with only 3 visible cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. These hairlines all appear stable. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base display a richly mottled russet brown and green patina. The bronze surfaces with some occasional light surface scratches, gentle rubbing, and with a few small and minor areas of discoloration consistent with age and gentle handling. With two small shallow bruises to the top of the base just below the shade arm collar, and with some isolated areas of rubbing and very small patina losses just below this collar. This base was originally designed as an oil lamp and was later converted to electricity. The sockets and paddle switches date to this later conversion. At the time of the conversion, the oil canister was affixed to the base unit and the electric cord extends through the bottom of the spherical base element. The shade arm collar, oil canister and riser rotate freely but are all integrally affixed. The three arms which support the shade with some small and minor scattered patina losses, and with some expected wear to the interior end terminals from continued contact over the years with the shade. A beautiful example of the Geranium model displaying an artistic and strongly saturated glass selection and a charming and well-proportioned base pairing. The background registers are articulated in warm luminous hues of cobalt, and the Geranium blossoms are articulated in a vibrant ruby red. When viewing this lamp firsthand, the colors appear slightly more subtle and nuanced than seen in the catalogue illustration which is slightly over saturated.
