Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 8 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. These hairlines all appear stable. The patinated bronze base displays finely cast details and an exceptionally rich and satisfying russet brown and green patina. The patinated bronze surfaces with a few light surfaces scratches, gentle rubbing, and with a few isolated areas of surface discoloration to the top cushion (appears to be small ink spots). The shade exterior is embellished with patinated bronze overlays on the poppy blossoms, while the shade interior is embellished with patinated bronze overlays along the bottom leaf register, both heightening the visual depth of the shade. With light surface soiling to the recessed contours beneath the exterior poppy overlays. The sockets and paddle switches all appear original and undisturbed; one small exterior socket screw is missing (this socket is fully stable and functional). With a period finial which displays a closely corresponding patina to the base. A superb example of the Poppy model, displaying a highly-saturated and well-varied glass selection. The background passages are selectively accented in striking aqua, and several of the Poppy blossoms are beautifully embellished with swashes of aqua. A highly artistic and dynamic shade displaying strong visual interest from every quadrant. When viewing this lamp firsthand, the colors appear slightly more nuanced than seen in the catalogue illustration, which doesn't fully capture the layering and striations of colors in the glass.
