Condition

These photographs, on very glossy paper, are in generally good condition. The highlights of these photographs are somewhat warm-toned, and the photographs appear to have yellowed and darkened somewhat with age. Hanging Gardens - This photograph is trimmed to the image. Upon close examination in raking light a few tiny impressions that do not break the emulsion are visible overall. There is a minuscule loss of emulsion at the tip of the upper left corner. The print is mounted, and signed and titled in pencil on the mount. The mount is age-darkened and lightly soiled on the front and reverse. Rockefeller Center Looking Southwest - This photograph is trimmed to the image. In raking light, insignificant superficial surface scratches are visible, as are a few tiny raised areas, likely particles trapped beneath the print during mounting. This print is mounted, and signed in pencil on the mount. The print is lifting from the mount at the lower left corner. The mount is lightly soiled on the front and reverse. Hazy Skyline - This photograph is trimmed to the image. There is a small, soft crease in the lower right quadrant. On the reverse of the print are the photographer's 'Paul J. Woolf' and '14 East 37th Street, New York City, Phone: CAledonia 5-5446’ credit/studio stamps. Sixth Avenue Looking South - This photograph has uneven white margins. Faint, mottled discoloration in the upper right portion of the sky-area is likely a result of processing. In raking light, isolated spots and areas of fogging, possibly silvering, are visible overall. The upper and lower margins are creased and the corners are bumped. On the reverse of the print, 'N58 NBMx22 [ ]' is written in pencil. 'McGraw Hill Bldg + Hudson R. from Roof of the Hotel Lincoln' - This photograph has uneven white margins. In raking light, unobtrusive superficial scratches, scuffs, and small creases are visible. The upper right and lower left margin corners are creased. The reverse of the print is lightly soiled and age-darkened. The reverse is titled and annotated 'NYCity.' Also on the reverse is the photographer's 14 East 37th Street, New York City, Phone: CAledonia 5-5446’ credit/studio stamp.
