Description

  • David Webb
  • gold, platinum, enamel, ruby, diamond
Designed as a frog applied with green enamel with gold accents, set with four oval-shaped cabochon rubies, the mouth set with round diamonds weighing approximately .45 carat, gross weight approximately 67 dwts, internal circumference 7 inches, signed David Webb.

Condition

In very good condition. The cabochon rubies are medium deep purplish red and range from semi-transparent and moderately included to translucent and heavily included. The diamonds are approximately G-H color, VS clarity. The enamel is applied a bit unevenly to look like a frog's skin and it is in excellent condition. The bracelet is opened by flipping up the latch on the large cabochon ruby by the frog's feet. Best fits a small to medium wrist.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Often inspired by the animal kingdom, this frog design was debuted by Webb in 1964 and has remained one of his most popular ever since. For additional information please see David Webb: The Quintessential American Jeweler by Ruth Peltason, pp. 130-31.
