Catalogue Note

The musical Company debuted at the Alvin Theater on April 26th 1970, produced and directed by Harold Prince, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and scenic and projection design by Boris Aronson. Aronson's furturistic set design consisted of two working elevators and various horizontal and vertical platforms evocative of a typical New York skyline. The original production was nominated for a record-setting 14 Tony Awards and won 6, including Best Scenic Design.
