Catalogue Note

An unpublished illustration. The headed stationery suggests that Lennon drew this illustration during the filming of A Hard Day's Night in the first week of March 1964, when filming in nearby Newton Abbot. The female on the right of the group also features as 'Portrait of a Lady', sold at Christie's, 24 August 1989, lot 485. This drawing was also on Imperial Hotel stationery and dated 1964 in a different hand. 'Portrait of a Lady' was used on the cover of the souvenir program for 'The Night of a Hundred Stars' at the London Palladium on 23 July 1964.
