Catalogue Note

The elusive Wilhelm Antonius Faber made a pair of papercuts with religious text for an unnamed person or persons in 1811. He is probably the William Faber who married Christina Muller on February 1, 1790, at Reading; she asked for a divorce from him in Lancaster on March 17, 1810. His work apparently took him into several southeastern Pennsylvania counties but reveals nothing about his career. -F.S.W.
