Faint creasing of the paper, mostly horizontally. Very minor, semi-circular tear to the centre of the upper edge.

Catalogue Note
Entstanden zwischen 1937 - 1942.
Nach 1936 malte Louis Soutter seine seit der Postmoderne sehr geschätzten und berühmt gewordenen Fingerzeichnungen. Mittels Druckerschwärze und teilweise mit Farbe gestaltete er mit seinen Fingern geheimnisvolle und symbolträchtige Figuren voller expressiver Bewegung auf Papier. Seine Figuren verwandeln den hellen Grund des weissen Papiers in einen leuchtenden Raum.
Die Gegenüberstellung des vorliegenden Meisterwerkes mit Arbeiten von Alberto Giacometti, Paul Klee oder Le Corbusier kontextualisiert weniger den Beitrag Soutters zur Art Brut als viel mehr zur Moderne.
