Not relined. Two minuscule canvas threads sticking out to the lower left. Faint, vertical stain to the lower centre. Hardly visible greasy stain to the right. Soome irregularities in the canvas. Some faint variantions in the colouring, most notably in the yellow and green areas. Various, small retouchings visible under uv-light, e.g. in the yellow square to the upper left to the right of the centre and along the right , lower edge, in the upper red area along the left edge, in both yellow squares to the right, two in the narrow, yellow square to the left of the centre along the upper edge, in the red square to the lower right along the left edge and various in the green sqare to the lower left. Good condition.

"Richard Paul Lohse war nicht nur ein Maler und Grafiker von radikaler konstruktiver Strenge und von überwältigender sinnlicher Farbkraft, sondern auch ein seine Kunst und die Gesellschaft reflektierender Kopf und von leidenschaftlichem Engagement für soziale Gerechtigkeit erfüllt“. So wird dieser bedeutende Schweizer Maler auf der Webseite der Lohse-Stiftung charakterisiert. Für die Aussage betreffend des künstlerischen Schaffens von Richard Paul Lohse könnte sehr wohl gerade unser Bild Pate gestanden sein. Seit den 1940er setzte sich Lohse mit der Konkreten Kunst intensiv auseinander. Seine Bilder komponierte er nach mathematischen Regeln und durch horizontal-vertikale Gliederung von Farbfeldern serieller und modularer Anordnung. Die einzelnen Module bestehen aus unterschiedlich grossen quadratischen bzw. rechteckigen Elementen und stehen stets in einer bestimmten Anordnung spannungsvoll zueinander, was das vorliegende Hauptwerk Lohses mit seiner malerischen und konzeptionellen Qualität eindrücklich zu belegen vermag.
