Catalogue Note

Every mark, print or sign tells a story. Prints in the
snow tell the story of a deer that just passed by. A circle on the table tells the story of someone who just spilled their tea. Marks are above all
physical; they are tangible signs. Very direct and without hidden or symbolic
meanings or particular associations.
But marks also tell a story about what has happened, about intentions,
about the way someone or something
just interacted with the environment.

Oscar
Tuazon started out making large structures made of industrial materials that sometimes fill the entire
space, structures you can walk through. For Tuazon it is all about the physical
experience of weight, balance, time, and space. The canvas of
the work in the show simply served as
Tuazon's outdoor working surface. It is marked with the remnants of the metals and tools he uses while making
sculptures over a period of weeks. These accidental compositions on the
surface are permanent echoes of a sculpture.
