plain polished surface, the lid applied with the gilt cypher of Grand Duke George Mikhailovich (1863-1919), the end with vesta compartment, cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, struck with workmaster's initials and 88 standard, scratched inventory number 4975, in original Fabergé wood case

Very good condition. Three or four minor indentations, including one to the lid, and the cypher slightly indented into the surface. Light scratches throughout, consistent with age and use. The original box in excellent condition.
