Catalogue Note

Aleksei Denisoff-Ouralsky (1864-1926), born the son of a Ekaterinburg hardstone carver, completed his artistic education at St. Petersburg's School of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts. He opened his own firm in 1902 and became one of the most important competitors with Fabergé in the market for carved semi-precious stones.
