the bombé-sided bowl decorated with polychrome stylized tulips on pastel grounds within arched-shaped cartouches reserved against a green ground with scrolling filigree wires, the bowl raised on four arched feet, each centered with a cabochon garnet, the base with engraved inscription: Henry Hugh Hanna and/ Anna Sharpe Hanna/ Souvenir of their visit/ to St. Petersburg Russia/ 1903, 84 standard

Catalogue Note

Henry Hanna (1848-1920), an industrialist and important advocate of the adoption of the gold standard, visited Russia in January 1903 as a member of the American Commission on International Exchange.
