Catalogue Note

Prince Constantine Nakashidze studied at Cambridge University at the time the Bolsheviks took over Georgia. He was married in Paris in the early 1920s to a Canadian opera singer whom he met in London. The present lot was purchased from a fellow Georgian in Paris on one of his many trips there from England. A medeival Georgian reliquary cross from the same collection will be offered in the Sotheby's Treasures sale on 3 July 2014.
