Condition
Silk embroidery on a natural linen ground.
Oxidized dark brown ground with restitching.
Some further restitching to other colors including a 2in. by 1/2in. restitching around center.
Scattered spot stains.
Bound on all four sides with later black cotton.
Stretched and mounting on silk backing.

This embroidery's overall pattern of small medallions flanked by diagonal cartouches is shared with a fragment once in the Kirchheim collection, see Heinrich Kirchheim et al., Orient Stars, Stuttgart and London, 1993, pl. 50, p. 75 and sold Rippon-Boswell, October 2, 1999, lot 18.
