Description
- Gilt-bronze
- each 40cm. high, 21cm. diameter; 1ft. 3¾in., 8¼in.
modelled with classically-draped maidens holding a pierced basket and standing on a circular plinth decorated in relief with garlands
Condition
These pieces are in overall good condition with no breaks or relevant damage and do retain their original gilding. They do require cleaning and reinforcement of structure as the figures are unstable needing to be securely re-fixed to base and basket.
Centrepiece 1 has one hand of the maidens loose from basket and there is a glue mark of a piece of tape to base which can be removed. Centrepiece 2 has the figures less unsteady although four hands need re-fixing.
Centrepiece 1 has an old replaced fixed screw to centre of basket, while the second centrepiece still has the original screw hidden by flower patera.
Both undersides are covered in baize fabric.
